"But I'm not creative?"
Discovering your unique creative flow
When you mention creativity, most people think that they’re not creative. That creativity is only assigned for the writers, poets, artists, designers actors & musicians. That only a special select few get to access this energy flow.
I think this happens in school when we begin to compare ourselves to others. When you start to see others who have a “natural talent” and begin to doubt your own. Looking across at someone else’s painting, hearing your friends singing voice or their poem they just wrote in class.
“But I’m not creative?” regularly comes up in my 1-1 client sessions, and the message that always come through from spirit is... YES YOU ARE. CREATIVITY IS FOR EVERYONE.
No matter what tools you use to create,
the true instrument is you.
And through you,
the universe that surrounds us
all comes in to focus.
Rick Rubin
We are creating when we make our food, when we have conversations with our family and friends, when we’re making plans and visioning our ideas, and even when we’re asleep and dreaming.
When we tap into our unique creative energy and allow ourselves to play in its magic, as Rick Rubin shares above we receive a certain focus. A clarity.
As adults we can stop being in the “creative play” energy. We don’t necessarily create the space to allow the creative flow to come in. Going to that dance class, having that pause/space to write what wants to come through us or however we personally love to express ourselves that brings pleasure.
I don’t know about you, but I know when I’m doing something I love, or I’m with people that inspire me the creative hits/downloads can flow in.
So, the next time you think you’re not creative here are some questions for you to reflect on what your creativity means for you
When you go about your day what inspires you?
How do you feel your most expressive?
What did creativity mean for you when you were growing up?
What does “creative flow” mean for you now?
What creative pursuit have you always wanted to try but never have?
For me personally I’ve realized how important it is to be surrounded by people who create to inspire me. So I’ve decided to offer a new creative container called CREATE.
We start next week May 2nd. It’s small and intimate with a max of 15 participants.
8 spots are open.
It can feel isolating creating alone. This container is here for you to create in community, feel supported and discover how your creativity wants to communicate with you.
We’ll dive deeper into how your intuition, creative channel and spirit team want to flow through. So you can deeply connect with the seeds and visions that want to come through.
It doesn’t matter where you are in your creative process. Whether it be to receive brand new creative ideas, developing an already established idea or finishing off a project.
